You would not call my husband and myself huge art connoisseurs, but we do enjoy seeing art in new cities. We found an amazing art museum on a recent trip to Cleveland. The Cleveland Museum of Art has an amazing set of exhibits for all art lovers and novices alike.
This museum is free to the public. We were psyched when we arrived and found this out. The open most days at 10:00 a.m.
The museum also has two late are Wednesday and Friday when they are open until 9:00p.m. All other nights the museum closes at 5:00 p.m. Plenty of time for a great dinner at Lola’s Bistro and Wine Bar the creation of celebrity chef Michael Symon. We ate there and the food was excellent. They do a great job with
The museum had a wide variety of exhibits. I am a huge fan of ancient Egyptian art and they had quite a good collection. I could spend hours just wandering through the galleries of ancient Egyptian art and reveling in the history of these objects.
The museum also has a variety of the master painters. Who doesn’t love seeing a series of Picasso’s? This museum has a tremendous collection of Picasso’s, Cezzanes, Gaughins and MOnet’s just to name a few. My husband and I spent the afternoon wandering around the galleries of the master painters. The paintings were magnificent and all this for free. I have been to many other art galleries around the world, MOMA, the Louvre, Tate Modern and none of those are free.
More About the Museum
The museum also has a series of free lectures. Many require a ticket, but are free of charge to attend. We were only at the museum for one day so we didn’t get to see any of the lectures, but the list of lectures is impressive. Families are not forgotten at the museum. They have a wide variety of activities for families. Some activities are free, but they also have an extensive hands-on art series for children. This series is called Saturday Studio. You should check it out if you live in the Cleveland area and are looking for a great activity for your kids.
This is a Super Travel Bitch Highly Recommend.
